Product Description

The MakerGear M2 3D desktop printer has an open, black powder-coated steel frame, offers a vertical (Z-axis) resolution from 50 to 300 microns (0.05 to 0.30 mm) at increments of 10 microns, and can build objects to maximum dimensions of 8 x 8 x 10 inches/203 x 203 x 254 mm (H x W x D) using 1.75 mm ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or PLA (polylactic acid) thermoplastic filament. The printer can be commanded through a USB cable (included) using G-code numerical control instructions, or from a G-code instruction file stored on an SD memory card (included). It can be used with a 3D printer management software packages (sold separately). The frame is open for ease of access, and made of steel for rigidity and has a black powder coat to help resist corrosion. A metal build platform heats to 110 degrees C to help provide thermal stability. Precision-machined, anodized aluminum axis mounts and carriage ball bearings help ensure precise movement. The size 17 stepper motors meet the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard ICS 16-2001. The printer comes with 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of 1.75 mm PLA filament.

3D printers fabricate physical objects directly from computer-aided-design (CAD) data sources. Objects created by additive manufacturing are built by dispensing successive thin layers of molten material onto a moving platform base from a robotic extruder nozzle. The material is most commonly a thermoplastic or HDPE (high-density polyethylene) filament.

MakerGear manufactures desktop 3D printers and accessories. The company, founded in 2009, is headquartered in Beachwood, OH.
